-What type of music?
I play techno, techno-house, and house music.

-When did you first start?
I began djing about 2 years ago.

-Why did you decide to start it? I have always wanted to dj but did not have anyone to teach me. I Ioved the genre and decided that I wanted to create a flow for music. I was biking one day and I saw a flyer for a dj short course with the Detroit institute for musical education (DIME). Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale was teaching the class. I had the time and money to take the course. During that one week course, I learned the basics of the djing.

-Are you a solo Artist or part of group? I am a solo artist, but I learned to DJ with an organization called Spin Inc. spinincdet.com

-What name do you go by? My name is GIA|DETROIT

-How did you come up with the name?My nickname is GIA. I am from Detroit where techno was created.

-Who do you like to collaborate with?
I collaborate a lot with Spin Inc, and DJ Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale. I was recently in a music video with the recording techno artist Drummer B. I am open to collaborating.

-Where do you play? I play at clubs, festivals, and personal events. I have played at Marble Bar, PJ Lager house, Mix Bricktown, Play Detroit, and Charivari.

-When are your upcoming shows?Starting September 26^th, I’ll being doing a monthly residency at Willis Show Bar in Detroit. I have two other events in the works. Please follow @giadetroit for more details.
